Our Heritage

 

   Mumaw Funeral Home was founded in 1913 by Wesley S. Mumaw. We are Antelope Valley's first funeral home and Lancaster's oldest busniess still owned and operated by the founding family for four generations and in the same location.

   When you call, you'll reach the owner, not an answering service. When you come in, you will be served by the owner, Jim Mumaw, and not a counselor which, many times nowadays is another word for salesperson. While many firms are interested on how much they can sell you (using all manner of sales tools, apporaches and pitches) here we prefer to listen to you and point out ways you can save. Being family-owned, we listen to you and offer ways that you can save money without sacrificing quality. You see, we have never forgotten that it's you, the family who has kept us here for over a century. As such, we have never sold to any corporation as we believe we should be answerable directly to you, rather than a board of directors and or corporate officers.

   You here the term "funeral industry" so much nowadays. However, we have never subscribed to that mentality. Our view is that a funeral home began and, in our case, is still a service profession serving families in need. You are treated like family, not a dollar sign.
